About Us

The Portage Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1906 to serve Portage Borough and Portage Township.

We are currently the primary fire and rescue emergency response service organization for Cassandra Boro, Portage Boro, and Portage Township.  In addition to emergency services, our station also conducts fire safety inspections, public service details, and public presentations throughout the year.

Our existing company was formed in 2009 with the merger of the Portage and Cassandra Volunteer Fire Companies.  This merger has allowed our existing structure to better serve the municipalities we protect by reducing response time and increasing staffing on calls.

As of 2018, The Portage VFC runs 1 Truck, 1 Rescue, 1 Rescue/Engine, 1 Tanker, 1 ATV, 1 Boat and 3 Support Vehicles
